By Ilona Krasutskaya: Such an order was given today by the Head of State during a visit to the enterprise Minskintercaps. On the example of one production, the development of the entire Belarusian pharmaceutical industry was discussed. Today it unites 37 organizations and enterprises. By the way, more than half of all drugs in our country's pharmacies are produced domestically. In the first half of 2018 a system of controlling the production, sales and import of medicines will be presented to the President.

The pharmaceutical industry provides the country's drug safety. The prices for Belarusian drugs are much lower than the prices of the imported ones.

The President also got acquainted with the process of production of medicines today. Minskintercaps produces different drugs: from vitamins to drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. It is important that the production is 95 percent import-substituting.

Six years ago Belarus produced about 18% of the required medicines. Now the volume of the market is estimated at 690 million dollars. Almost 800 kinds of medicines appeared in Belarus during this time. 120 more new drugs are planned to be released this year. Our products are sold in pharmacies of neighboring states and far-abroad countries: Afghanistan, Laos, Pakistan, Thailand, and Cambodia. Another requirement of the Head of State for the future is to equalize the volume of exports and supplies of drugs to the domestic market. Modernization of the industry is being carried out, the production of new import-substituting drugs is launched.

The geography of supplies includes 23 countries. Last year the company entered the markets of Libya and Tajikistan. Negotiations on the registration of a company in Syria and Afghanistan are in their final stage.

Belarusian medicine has taken a huge step forward recently. This is evidenced by world ratings. The country has modernized all spheres of health care. Annually new types of diagnostics appear. A bet on the development of domestic pharmacology was made.
