Belarus joins world leaders in the development of information and communication technologies

This was announced today at a meeting of the President with Houlin Zhao, ITU Secretary-General. In recent years, Belarus has implemented a number of major projects: IPTV, new 4G cellular standard, its own communication satellite.

Over the past 5 years Belarus has risen in the ranking of the ITU to the 14th position. According to the index of communication development our country occupied the 36th place in the world last year, being ahead of all CIS countries. According to the experts, the secret of success is in the personal patronage of the sphere by the President of the country, stability and creation of the necessary conditions for investment.

The International Telecommunication Union asked Belarus to participate actively in the projects of the organization and to transfer its experience to partners. The International Telecommunication Union is the oldest international organization of the United Nations system. It includes 193 states.
