Belarus sees great potential in developing cooperation with Russia’s Rostov region, as stated by the President at today’s meeting with Governor of the Russian region Vasily Golubev. This is not the first visit of the region’s representatives to Belarus. The Governor is accompanied by major industrialists, businessmen and officials.

The Rostov region is one of Belarus’ main partners in southern Russia. Traditionally, the region provides Belarus with oil products and metals and imports machinery, components, petrochemicals and food products. The region has developed a dealer network of such Belarusian brands as Gomselmash, MAZ, MTZ and Amkodor. Last year, Belarus and the Rostov region managed to break the trend of decreasing mutual trade turnover, increasing it by 20%, which is about 340 million dollars. However, it is possible to reach the milestone of half a billion dollars. Alexander Lukashenko has suggested using Belarusian products and technologies more actively.

Rostov-on-Don is among other Russian cities to host the FIFA World Cup next year. Belarus will update the city’s passenger transport fleet prior to the tournament — Belarusian manufacturers have already won a number of tenders to supply their machinery, including to other Russian cities that will be hosting the event.

The Rostov region delegation is planned to visit Belkommunmash to be presented a Belarus’ produced novelty — the electric bus.
