As stated by President Alexander Lukashenko at today’s meeting in the rural town of Kopys in the Vitebsk region, rural development in Belarus must be raised to a new level. The meeting discussed in detail prospects for the further development of small settlements in the Orsha and Shklov districts. The main task is promoting the development of the domestic agroindustrial complex and improving the economic efficiency of agriculture.

In particular, the meeting in Kopys focused on plans for the further development of the production sphere of several agricultural towns in the Shklov district. It has been suggested to create a comprehensive integrated framework based on the joint-stock companies Amkodor Shklov, Novoe Yubileynoe and Bolshye Slaveni. The President pointed out that the project might be joined by an investor who will be able to implement the idea of the agricultural enterprise of the future.

The President also visited Kopys’ centre for folk art and crafts, which was opened five years ago at his request. A large part of its art products are sold at a shop in Kopys. The craftsmen actively participate in various exhibitions. According to the President, the centre can earn money independently and develop more actively.
