CIS and EEC summits held in Sochi

15 октября 2017

During the two meetings, the Presidents signed 26 documents. Among them is expansion of interaction in economy, security, military sphere, culture.

The CIS has established itself as an ideal discussion platform, which has no alternative today, and this is recognized by all Member States.

Of course, not all are ready to talk about problems and, most importantly, to recognize them. Alexander Lukashenko is perhaps the only one who publicly and openly announced at the round table all the most acute moments of integration.

Shavkat Merziyoyev as the President of Uzbekistan visited the CIS summit for the first time. This state has great hopes for the community, this is confirmed by the fact that Tashkent declared its readiness to take over the chairmanship in the association in 2020, which was not the case for the entire history of Uzbekistan's presence in the CIS.

Minsk and Tashkent are increasing their trade turnover. We are ready to create a joint venture in the textile industry. Shavkat Merziyoyev is even ready to send a separate Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Minsk.

Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly said: the Commonwealth should not stumble on the spot, but to keep pace with the times, transform itself and become an influential player. Yes, the CIS is often called an elite club. But after all, this status needs to be reinforced by real affairs.

Vladimir Putin, the Russian president: "In order to ensure further steady growth in trade, it is necessary to further improve the free trade regime in the Commonwealth, to remove barriers to the movement of goods and services, to simplify customs procedures, including through interaction with the Eurasian Economic Commission."

Vasily Matyushevsky, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus: "The barriers are the same. There are restrictions in mutual trade, in the transit of goods in Russia. The second question is the formation of common markets. It is rather inactive."

Most of the negotiations in the format of the five leaders were held behind closed doors from the press. It became clear that all documents were coordinated without problems. Among them, the budget for 2018, the creation of a joint satellite system, the launch of a new customs code from January 1. Very soon the politicians will meet in Minsk, in order to discuss security in detail. Belarus this year is the chairman of the CSTO. The summit is scheduled for the end of November.
