CSTO secretaries convene in Yerevan and set course for strengthening of military-political cooperation

CSTO is aimed at strengthening military-political cooperation. This was stated by Alexander Volfovich at the meeting of the Committee of the CSTO Security Council Secretaries in Yerevan. The heads of delegations also discussed a number of issues related to improvement of collective security and further development of the organization's activity. 

Despite the fact that CSTO continues to pay close attention to strengthening of its southern borders in the Central Asian region, the heads of delegations noted serious changes in the situation in the Caucasus and Eastern European regions. The Belarusian delegation made a number of proposals: to strengthen the military-political interaction of the states, namely to improve the crisis response mechanisms, to form a unified information policy within the CSTO and strengthen the analytical work.

Alexander Volfovich, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus:

“The delegations considered all the existing challenges and threats that may affect the national security of our countries. There has been a constructive exchange of views, the meeting was productive and aimed at developing mechanisms to counter those threats that may affect the security of the countries, members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.” 

Six documents were signed at the meeting that touch upon development and improvement of fight against international terrorism, joint training of forces and means of collective security system, military and scientific cooperation in the field of research of problems of development of radio-electronic warfare.
