In the next year and a half we need to reach $1 billion in trade turnover with Uzbekistan. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the talks with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in an enlarged format on February 8, BelTA informs.

"It's no secret that in recent years the logistics of supplies, the system of settlements have seriously changed, shaking both the raw materials and energy markets. The whole structure of the international division of labor is undergoing a period of global transformation. This is inevitable. There is more uncertainty, the level of confrontation has increased. But despite this, we cannot allow the welfare of the people to decline," said Alexander Lukashenko.

The President called a strong economy, which is not afraid of any shocks, the foundation of any state. "That is why we have a very impressive economic block on our agenda," the head of state said. So, where we have underperformed, we need to be more active. We just need to be more persistent. And this is what I am saying to the Ambassador in the first place. So make sure that you don't slow down our colleagues".

According to Alexander Lukashenko, the current figures of trade turnover - almost $600 million - do not correspond to the existing potential, although they are a record.

"In the next year and a half we should reach $1 billion and look forward," said the President. - As long as there is agreement between the governments and heads of state, we need to do a lot of deals.
