Belarus is expected to join one of the most global organizations of the planet, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization! The relevant procedures are at the final stage and our country will acquire the status of a full member.
The Head of State signed a decree on accession to the SCO, which approved the draft memorandum of Belarus' obligations to become a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The document defines the general obligations of Belarus - to comply with the objectives and principles of the international treaties, adopted in the organization, the terms of accession to such treaties, financial aspects of accession, as well as the provisions for the quota positions in its bodies.
Our country has been an observer in the SCO since 2015. At the last summit in Samarkand, Belarus received the unanimous support of the other participants in obtaining the status of full-fledged membership. Given its strategically important geographical location, our country is able to organically complement the structure of the organization given its transit, industrial and scientific potential. Our experience in peacekeeping and multilateral diplomacy is important.
