Traditionally, the widest range of topics was discussed at the meeting of the President with the speaker of the upper house of parliament Natalia Kochanova. The most important election campaign is coming up. In February, for the first time, Belarus will hold a single day of voting, which is stipulated in the updated Constitution. Alexander Lukashenko is keeping the issues of local readiness in sight and has instructed the Council of the Republic to assist the Central Election Commission if necessary.

"The first issue is, naturally, the upcoming parliamentary elections. You have a whole cross-section of the problems that will have to be monitored during the preparation and holding of these elections. Tomorrow we will discuss them more specifically at a meeting with representatives of the parties that are listed with us and that intend to participate in the parliamentary elections," the head of state said.

He asked about the situation, how people and governors are working on the ground. "We frankly and honestly said that we will participate in these elections in every possible way. I mean the vertical of power. This is a very important campaign in Belarus. There is no more important political campaign next year. It will be followed by the formation of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, election of delegates to this assembly."
