Nearly half of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session participants confirm registration

According to Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives Boleslav Pirshtuk, almost half of the participants of the summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which will be held in Minsk, have already confirmed their registration.

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session will meet in Belarus for the first time. The opening is scheduled for 5 July. The meeting will gather about 700 guests fr om 57 countries. The key items of the agenda will be terrorism, cybersecurity, protracted conflicts, climate change, as well as migration and strengthening OSCE mechanisms for ensuring human rights. At the beginning of the week, the Belarusian parliamentarians, headed by the Vice Speaker, took part in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Bureau meeting in Copenhagen, wh ere they announced they are ready to hold a session in Minsk.

Boleslav Pirshtuk noted that the preparation is going according to the plan, and the parliamentarians have absolutely no doubts that they will approach this major event well-prepared. Belarus has formulated the session’s theme – strengthening mutual trust and cooperation for peace and prosperity in the OSCE.

A delegation of the International Secretariat of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will visit Minsk in early May. Guests will assess the country's readiness to host this large-scale forum. The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly summer session is the most significant event in the work of the OSCE PA. It is at this meeting that leaders are elected, and declarations and resolutions are adopted.
