Joint scientific developments, creation of railroad infrastructure and construction of ports. Secretary of the State of the Union State met with Belarusian journalists accredited in Russia and summarized the results of the Supreme State Council, which was held in St. Petersburg at the beginning of the week. According to Dmitry Mezentsev, there are more than 10 important areas on our Union agenda today. These are industry, trade, agriculture, interaction of central banks, formation of a single energy market, projects in nuclear energy. But there are also completely new topics - the scientific and technological strategy of the Union State has been approved. Another important area is the construction of new railroad and port infrastructure. Due to the sanctions pressure and reorientation of cargoes to other markets, this issue is especially relevant today.

Last year the volume of cargo and goods transportation from Belarus to Russia amounted to more than 14 million tons. Of these, 12.9 million tons were the cargoes that went to the North-West of Russia, and naturally, a lot of work is being done to improve the infrastructure of Russian ports to receive Belarusian cargoes on the Baltic Sea and further to the North-West. Investment in improving railroads and increasing their capacity require resources that were not planned before. But the task has been set, the presidents have been actively involved in this discussion, and they have been working to improve the railroad infrastructure.
