The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei does not exclude that in the future Belarus may consider the possibility of full participation in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). considering the fact that the conversion of this forum into a full-fledged international organization is being discussed, as BelTA reports.

The head of the Foreign Ministry notes that CICA platform is important  for  discussion  of the security issues. "We can say that there are many regional organizations in the Eurasian space now, which to some extent cover the issues of military and political, trade and economic, humanitarian cooperation and so on," said Vladimir Makei.

He recalled that CICA was established in 1992 as a forum, while Kazakhstan is now promoting the idea of transforming the meeting into a true international organization. "We will then consider the possibility of our full participation in this organization," said the Minister.

At the same time Vladimir Makei reminded that recently the SCO summit started the procedure of Belarus' joining the organization as a full member. "We have to go through a certain stage. We are not going to focus on many areas right now. We will concentrate on work in those organizations that are of priority for us. In particular, the SCO is of great interest to us now, because we have long been actively cooperating with it in various areas that are beneficial for us, especially during the period of sanctions confrontation. Therefore, the SCO is a priority. But we do not exclude our active participation in those organizations that are of interest to us primarily in terms of economy, politics and humanitarian interaction," said the head of the Foreign Ministry.
