The potential for cooperation between Belarus and Tatarstan is enormous. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with Tatarstan leader Rustam Minnikhanov, BelTA informs.
"I am sincerely happy to welcome you in Belarus, in Minsk. You are true friends of the Belarusian people. I have been watching with interest the development of your region for a long time. Successes are impressive and inspire us to work with Kazan more actively," stressed Alexander Lukashenko. - Besides, we have very businesslike and productive relations. The potential of our relations is huge," he said.
The President confessed that he was always amazed at how similar Tatarstan is to Belarus. "If I didn't know you were flying over Tatarstan, I would have thought it was the same nature of our Belarus," he said.
A Belarusian delegation headed by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko recently visited Tatarstan. The parties defined specific areas of cooperation.
About 50% of trade turnover between Minsk and Kazan today is provided by petrochemistry. "Therefore, the growth of trade volumes in 2022 by more than 5%, up to one billion dollars, is not a bad indicator. But it does not fully reflect our capabilities," the President said. - Our petrochemicals is only one direction. Therefore, you were right to have not restricted yourself to petrochemistry only when working out a cooperation plan," he said.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that the parties should by all means expand the range of mutual supplies, cooperation and joint ventures. "If you have any interests, we will definitely work in this direction," assured the President.
