Lukashenko: There is no and will be no need for Belarus to join hostilities

There is no and will be no need for Belarus to join the hostilities. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to journalists in the Kremlin, reports BelTA.

"Until the peace talks on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine begin, how do you assess the probability that Belarus will have to engage in hostilities?" - the journalists asked the head of state.

"I don't assess it in any way. There is no such necessity. And there will be no such need. I once said that Russia needs such a Belarus now - peaceful, quiet, calm, doing its job. I say straightforwardly: neither I nor Putin (we discussed this problem yesterday) want our brotherly Ukrainian people to suffer. We don't want it!

Alexander Lukashenko mentioned Russia's strikes on energy facilities in Ukraine in this regard, noting that it was a response to a similar attack from the Ukrainian side.

"Ukrainians should understand: if they are going to throw UAVs at such facilities as an oil refinery  - the answer will come instantly in 10-fold. Why provoke and fuel this fire? Why is it needed? And at the same time they talk about some kind of peace talks and a conference in Switzerland. They want peace in Ukraine without Russia."
