The head of the CEC calls December 1, 2019 the optimum date for the first (of the two) election campaigns. Lidia Yermoshina stated this to the information-analytical portal of the Union State, explaining that after the summer holidays there will be enough time to prepare and to hold elections at the proper level.
In 2020 the term of office of the President and Parliament expires. The law does not prohibit combining two election campaigns, but Belarus has already developed the practice of not combining the election of the head of state with other important political campaigns. It has not yet been decided, which of them will eventually be the first. Lidia Yermoshina expects this to be announced by the President during the traditional Message to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly. The Central Election Commission will be ready for any decision.
Lidia Yermoshina announced that maps of election districts will appear on the CEC website. This innovation will allow candidates and their initiative groups to avoid mistakes during the collection of signatures and campaigning.
