Belarus and Russia are preparing new allied programs in the field of nuclear and radiation safety. This was stated by the head of Gosatomnadzor Olga Lugovskaya, reports BELTA.

"The drafts of two allied programs have already been prepared. One of them concerns the development of infrastructure for radioactive waste management. It is related to the construction of a radioactive waste disposal facility in our country, but will cover a wider range of issues, for example, related to the development of human resources, development of regulatory documents, research work," said Olga Lugovskaya.

The second program with the conventional name "Detectors and Crystals" is related to the radiation monitoring system: spectrometers, radiometers, dosimeters, radiation analyzers and other devices. "This instrumentation fleet requires periodic equipment upgrades and repairs to ensure that the system as a whole continues to perform its functions. Issues related to the component base for the production of these instruments are very relevant in the context of sanctions. In the 1990s-2000s, this was not given sufficient attention either in Russia or in our country, and now it is a question of revitalizing the industry," said the head of Gosatomnadzor.

At the same time, the work on the Chernobyl issue continues. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia cooperates with us.
