The government of Belarus has always consulted the people, and the people have made a choice in favor of a strong government! This was stated by the President at the meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution.
The main document is a peer of sovereign Belarus. 30 years ago a new stage of our history began. The fundamental foundations of the development of the state and society were laid then.
The document testifies to the continuity of the history of the people and preservation of the cultural code. Our Constitution embodies the achievements of many eras. In one hall, the judges of the Constitutional Court, representatives of public associations and political parties, people's elected representatives, scientists and managers. Each of them participated in the development of the first and only Constitution of the sovereign Belarus.
The state stands for the continuity of generations. The modern document reflects our entire path. For example, the All-Belarusian People's Assembly is a part of the Polotsk veche tradition. The most important decisions of strategic development are made by the people! The Soviet Constitution protected human life and dignity: we preserved the principle of social justice.
The speech was, of course, also about the Constitution of 1994 adopted by the Supreme Soviet, and in this connection it was impossible not to mention borrowing the experience of advanced countries. "Remember, back then we generally ran after the advanced countries of the world, copying them," the President said. - A few decades later, we realized that there was nothing to run after.
