A. Lukashenko approves new Belarus defense plan

The issues of defense, security and development of the national army were discussed today at the Security Council of Belarus.

Conflict potential in various regions of the world is growing: the confrontation between major world centers of power - the USA, the EU, China and Russia is not weakening. The arms race is accelerating. The intensity in the information sphere is growing. Our President highlights the defense policy in such conditions.

The country should always have an effective system of proactive and response measures in a case of a threat. Therefore, planning for the defense of Belarus was considered in conjunction with the further development of the army. The composition of the armed forces, the availability of necessary and modern weapons, especially in aviation and air defense are important. Our army was modernized 4 times. The General Staff was engaged in revising the defense plan of Belarus last year. This is a new look at security and protection, taking into account the challenges of the time.

The Security Council approved the new defense plan of Belarus and the Concept for the construction and development of the Armed Forces until 2030. The package of documents was signed by the President. 

The emphasis in the development of the Belarusian army is put on maintaining the existing composition, as well as the structure of the Armed Forces, their qualitative development by improving combat training, rearmament and modernizing the technical base.
