The country’s border security system must be adapted to the current situation in the world, as stated by Chairman of Belarus’ State Border Committee Leonid Maltsev during today’s opening of a new border post in the Voronovo district. According to the officers who will serve there, the complex is comfortable in terms of accommodation and is equipped with advanced technologies and a communications system, which significantly increases the mobility of alert groups and squads at the border.
The new border post in the Voronovo district is responsible for a 20-kilometer section of the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, which, experts say, has recently been increasingly popular among illegal immigrants. This year alone, the border guards have stopped the activities of two groups smuggling African-Asian region citizens into the European Union. About 20 people have been detained.
