Osmolovka District was built in the 50s and is located near the Opera and Ballet Theater.

Osmolovka had another name before.

Ksenia Slizkaya, historian-guide: "This area was called Storozhovka because there was a gatehouse at the crossroads."

Osmolovka was built immediately after the war, in 1945-1949.  This was the first elite district of post-war Minsk. 2-storey cottages, landscaped courtyards, the buildings with elements of Roman architecture: galleries, counter-forces, bay windows were located there.

Osmolovka stands now within Bogdanovich, Kommunisticheskaya, Kuibysheva and Kiseleva Streets. There are 39 two-storey buildings in a single architectural style. The district was named after Soviet architect Mikhail Osmolovsky.

Minsk intellectuals, scientists, officers and professors, and later actors of the Opera and Ballet Theater have always lived here.

Osmolovka got the status of historical and cultural value in 2019 and is now under state protection. It is forbidden to construct outbuildings and enterprises.
