Exhibition dedicated to Chingiz Aitmatov opens in Minsk

The 95th anniversary of Chingiz Aitmatov was celebrated in the National Library of Belarus.

On December 12, the birthday of the outstanding Soviet author, national writer and Hero of Kyrgyzstan, there opened a photo and book exhibition. The exposition presents novels, novels and stories, plays of the writer.

More than once, Aitmatov's works have been set to music, and UNESCO considers his books the most widely read in the world after Shakespeare and Tolstoy.

If we talk about the scale of creativity, we can turn to figures and say that Aitmatov's works have been translated into 174 languages of the world. The total circulation of books is 80 million copies. I would like to express my great gratitude to the brotherly Belarusian people. I think it contributes to the cultural rapprochement of our peoples.
