Driver falls asleep behind wheel - preliminary cause of accident with Belarusian bus in Poland

New details of the accident with the Belarusian passenger bus in Poland have become known. This morning, the bus went off the road near Petrovina and ended up in a ditch. There were 45 Belarusians on their way to Warsaw. Earlier there were reports of 20 injured. More than 20 fire departments and 8 ambulances arrived at the scene of the accident. There's also information that five people were hospitalized. 

According to media reports, the bus driver fell asleep at the wheel. Polish rescuers set up tents to help those who were slightly injured. Those willing to get to the nearest railway station were provided with transport. The Belarusian embassy in Poland is specifying the details of the situation. 

"The bus was involved in an accident (fell into a ditch) in Poland near Petrovina," reads the statement of the Belarusian embassy in Poland. - According to the available information, there were no casualties in the accident. The victims are getting the necessary medical care. A contingency bus is expected. As stressed the Foreign Ministry, the Belarusian Embassy in Poland is specifying the details of the situation, establishing contacts with the competent authorities of Poland and is ready to provide necessary assistance to the relatives of the victims.
