The hospital was reprofiled to treat patients with pneumonia and coronavirus infection in April. About a thousand specialists: doctors, nurses, orderlies, worked for the patients’ wellbeing every day. 5 departments of the therapeutic profile and 3 of the surgical profile are ready for the usual regimen. The first operations, including kidney transplantation, were carried out.

Vladimir Karanik, Minister of Health of Belarus: "Timely measures to reprofile the hospitals throughout the country made it possible to ensure the availability of medical care for the entire period of the rise of the infection. We managed to prevent overloading the healthcare system. Medical assistance was provided in full."

Andrei Andryushkin, head physician of Vitebsk Regional Hospital: "We were fully equipped with ventilation devices and completely coped with the hospitalization in the admission department. Specialized departments were prepared for patients, who came with the suspected infection, pneumonia."

The situation is under control throughout the country. And as Vladimir Karanik noted, there is a gradual decrease in the incidence of respiratory infections.
