3 января 2024

Belarus has become the leader among the CIS countries in the rating of Sustainable Development Goals achievement. This is stated in the analytical report "NSDS-2035 in Figures: Results of the Implementation of Sustainable Development Priorities" prepared by the Research Institute of the Ministry of Economy, BelTA reports.

The main achievements in the development of the Belarusian economy are ensuring and maintaining macroeconomic balance, gradual recovery of the dynamics of economic growth and household incomes, maintaining a stable level of employment and preventing the growth of unemployment in the country.

Despite the change in the geo-economic situation, it was possible to achieve GDP growth (103.8%) in 2023. The reduction of the debt burden on the economy has become a stable trend. Gross external debt relative to GDP decreased from 68.7 % in 2020 to 48.9 % of GDP (as of July 1, 2023).

GDP per capita at purchasing power parity (PPP) increased from 20.3 thousand dollars in 2020 to 25.2 thousand (estimated) in 2023.

Belarus has one of the lowest indicators of poverty among the CIS countries. In 2022, its value amounted to 3.9%. The target set in the NSDS-2035 to reduce the poverty rate (to 4% in 2035) has already been achieved.
