Convergence of laws of Belarus and Russia in physical training and sports discussed in Minsk

7 декабря 2023

Developing sports together within the framework of the Union State. The seventy-fourth session of the permanent seminar at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia started in Minsk today. The agenda includes the convergence of the laws of the two countries in the field of physical training and sports. This is especially relevant in view of the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions. The search for alternatives in each sport is an important task of the seminar. A good example is the Spartakiada for children, a project that has been implemented within the framework of the Union State since 2003. It should be noted that 2024 includes a match in athletics between Belarusian and Russian athletes.

Artem Turov, Chairman of the Commission on Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia:

“Today we are discussing two major issues: harmonization of the laws of Russia and Belarus in the sphere of physical training and sports to adopt common approaches. We are talking about expanding the opportunities that we have within the framework of the Union State events. And those sanctions that are trying to pressure us, will stop at some point, and our athletes should be ready to show high results and represent our countries, the Russian Federation and Belarus.”
