The Belarusian legislation plans to fix the concept of tips and determine who they belong to. This was announced by the head of the main department of taxation of individuals of the Ministry of Taxes and Levies, Andrei Kovalevsky, reports BelTA.

"In Belarus, the term "tips" is not enshrined in the legislation. The tax service in this case does not quite welcome the definition of "gift", because the gift provides gratuitousness. And when you came to a cafe, you were served, you liked the cuisine and service, you left a tip - there is no gratuitousness here. It is your additional payment. But since the term "tip" is not officially fixed, these questions arise from time to time. I know that state bodies are currently working on the issue of fixing the term "tips", and it is really very necessary and important", - said Andrei Kovalevsky.

He also noted that it is important to determine who the tips left belong to. "You leave them in an institution where there are hired workers - waiters, cooks. The question arises: does this money belong to a legal entity - the owner of this establishment or to the waiter? This requires a definition. The issue is being worked out," added the representative of the Ministry of Taxes and Levies.
