First railway scanning tunnel introduced in Belarus

By Viktoria Potonya: Belarus’ first railway scanning tunnel installed at the Brest-Severny station is launched automatically as soon as a train arrives, with the signal distributed via smart electronic sensors. The scanning tunnel is equipped with a fast control technology, i.e. it can scan the trains in motion. Moreover, the system operates under any weather conditions. In case of passenger trains, the system is not activated. The scanning of one vehicle takes about 15 minutes.

Belarus' first scanning tunnel was built due to Chinese investments and technologies. The Chinese company that invested 5.5 million dollars in the project produces special equipment for customs services and is known in over 100 countries worldwide.

The system increases Belarus’ transit attractiveness. A second scanning tunnel is planned to be installed at a railway station in Molodechno.
