Union State Award was presented to the authors of the project "The historical memory of the Union State"

The Union State Award in literature and art was presented to the authors of the project "The Historical Memory of the Union State". The awarding ceremony was held in Moscow. The prize is awarded every two years and traditionally it happens during the opening ceremony of the Festival "Slavonic Bazaar". 

This year awards to the sculptors of "Rzhevsky Memorial to the Soviet Soldier" and to the authors of concert programs of different years of "Slavic Bazaar" have already been presented on the stage of the Summer Amphitheater in Vitebsk.

However, some of the laureates, including twice Hero of the Soviet Union, pilot-cosmonaut Petr Klimuk, for various reasons could not come to Vitebsk. And these days they were honored by a special ceremony held in Moscow.

Dmitry Mezentsev, State Secretary of the Union State: This is not just a fight for historical memory, this is what we need today to feel our special unity, against the background of very difficult but necessary events experienced by the 2 closest allies, Belarus and Russia. And understanding faith, decency, courage, fortitude, the pursuit of truth, becomes an invaluable gift.
