This is a special resurrection for the Orthodox world, the brightest in the year. Thousands of Belarusians celebrate it in churches, majestic cathedrals and small village churches.  Solemn church services are held all over Belarus. It is a time when the heart of every believer is overflowing with hope and faith in good things. According to tradition, the President shares the joy of this event with the parishioners. On Easter he visited the Church of the Transfiguration in Kopys.

Easter is traditionally celebrated in the circle of the closest people. So, today the head of state is in his native land, near his countrymen, can hear the calls for peace and harmony.  The President appealed not only to Belarusians, but to all our neighbors: "Let's live together, let us protect our land. It is our most important wealth."

It is a symbol of spiritual joy that unites millions of believers on this great holiday. Today they live in hope and faith in the best. This spiritual uplift cannot be spoiled by the clouds coming in. We wish everyone good health, peace and kindness, in all families, in all homes, that all may be well.

Alexander Lukashenko is  an ordinary parishioner today. Every time on this bright day the President leaves the megalopolis, visiting sanctuaries in different parts of the country. Small soulful churches, built without much pomp and expensive decoration, are like beacons of faith, in which the soul of the Belarusians lives. The Cathedral of the Transfiguration in Kopys, the small homeland of the President, is one of them.

According to the tradition, the President put a candle and certainly prayed for something of his own, then he congratulate the congregation warmly, simply, from the heart.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:

“I noticed by your faces that, indeed, today is the kindest and most welcome holiday. It has always been like this, this holiday has always given people hope for justice and happiness. Hope lives in our hearts even today, in every person, and not only in Belarus. This great holiday, the light holiday, which we have always been able to compare with the secular holiday -  the Victory Day. These two great holidays are always in the soul, always in the heart of our people, and it is customary, too, to celebrate this bright holiday in the circle of family and close friends. That is the reason why I have come today to this holy, native land, where I was once born and many times my boys and I would come to the church that stood on this spot to celebrate this bright holiday.”
