Business circles of Belarus and Turkey to gather in Ankara this week

14 апреля 2019

A business forum will take place there, representatives of leading enterprises of both countries have already registered for the event. Some companies have been cooperating for several years and are ready to go to a new level of cooperation. Others will come to meet and negotiate trial supplies. The trade turnover between the countries has increased significantly in recent years and almost reached a billion dollars.

However, there are still some obstacles between the states that require prompt intervention. Solutions were sought this week by the governments of Belarus and Turkey. Among the key topics are the balance of trade, investment and the opening of the market for our beef.

More than 200 participants on both sides are expected at the Belarusian-Turkish business forum in Ankara. Belneftekhim plans to conclude a multi-million contract. For 12 years now they have been supplying Turkey with everything they need to develop the textile industry, for which this country is so famous.

In two or three years, Belkommunmash plans to start assembling its electric buses and trolleybuses in Turkey.

The exact number of agreements is difficult to name. An exhibition of goods made in Belarus will open tomorrow. In fact, an informal start to the forum will be given. And the business will begin negotiations.

The business environment does not tolerate fuss; all projects and contracts are carefully studied, sometimes for years. Mutual understanding in the political arena is a solid foundation for equally solid business arrangements. There are no contradictions between us. This fact is confirmed by regular talks at the highest level. Alexander Lukashenko’s visit to Ankara is being prepared.

During the previous conversation at the highest level, the heads of state talked about a $ 1 billion bar in the turnover.

Unfortunately, there is no balance in our mutual trade: we sell many times less than we buy. The barrier to this is customs duties. Turkey protects its domestic market and its jobs, and our product becomes too expensive and unable to compete. A compromise in this situation is sought by the governments of the two countries.
