By Alexandra Kavelich: For the 14th time, the Belarusian Cuisine Week has kicked off in Minsk. This week, Minsk cafes and restaurants will serve new national cuisine dishes. The best ones will be included in the main menus.

Originally from Lithuania, chef Jolita Dirse knows all the secrets of the Belarusian cuisine. Every day, she invites visitors to have a taste of the gastronomic flair of our country. Many national dishes turn into new and authentic masterpieces in the hands of this chef.

Chef Jolita Dirse: "I created my menu based on culinary books. Also, when I arrived in Belarus, I talked a lot with people from villages. The Belarusian cuisine uses a lot of stewing, simmering, and cooking with steam, and you see it a lot in the old recipes."

The gastronomic project is being carried out for the 14th time in Minsk. During this time, visitors of cafes and restaurants have tasted more than 50 Belarusian dishes. This week, new culinary experiments join Mink cafes’ menus. They are sorrel soup, fish dumplings, and pyachista (baked meatballs) with potatoes. All the dishes are served in the authentic Belarusian style, too.

More than 50 cafes and restaurants joined the project. During the Belarusian Cuisine Week, all the meals are cooked on a single recipe, so they are the same at all the cafes.

Everyone can try authentic Belarusian dishes throughout this week. The most popular of them will be added to the main menus. Another week of Belarusian cuisine is scheduled for this autumn.
