It is planned to provide transshipment of 15 million tons of Belarusian cargoes through the ports of St. Petersburg by2025, announced Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoy.

The ports of St. Petersburg have become the base points for transshipment of Belarusian exports in 2023 due to logistical advantages, said the diplomat. "With the existing infrastructure, primarily railroad, we have actually already reached the ceiling of this transshipment. Although the numbers are big, they have increased many times over compared to 2021-2022. Last year it was 14.1 million tons of cargo through all Russian ports, of which the lion's share - 12.9 million - through the ports of St. Petersburg," - said Dmitry Krutoy.

According to him, the investment plans of the Russian Railways and the Belarusian Railroad have been agreed upon. "The first stage is the restoration of junctions, which were actually mothballed after the collapse of the Soviet Union. They need to be restored very promptly and quickly today," the diplomat emphasized. - And the basic task is to ensure the transshipment of 15 million tons of Belarusian cargoes by 2025, using the ports of St. Petersburg.

Dmitry Krutoy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia:
