Ways Belarusian State Circus manage СOVID-19 discussed

10 февраля 2021
Circus is by definition a very expensive and risky art. At the same time, the arena should not be changed to the stage, thereby turning circuses into commercial centers isn't a good idea (as it is customary in Europe). This opinion was shared by Vytautas Grigalyunas on the air of our TV channel. In the studio of the "Say, don't keep silent" program the artistic director of the Belarusian State Circus spoke about how the troupe managed to come to an agreement with the COVID-19 pandemic, why the seating of one and a half meters was not viable, but unprofitable, and also how, in a difficult period, the state provided support to those who live on the arena.

Vytautas Grigalyunas, artistic director of the Belarusian State Circus: "The main help was that salaries were still paid. In the most difficult period, there was a forced downtime, there were 2/3 of the salary. But still it is enough to pay utilities and still eat something. I admit that during the period of forced downtime someone worked part-time. But they returned anyway, it's important. They are still circus artists."
