Igor Sergeenko elected Chairman of House of Representatives

Igor Sergeenko has been elected Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the eighth convocation, writes BELTA.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives was elected by secret ballot using ballots during the first meeting of the first session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation. 109 deputies out of 109 present voted in favor of Igor Sergeenko.

Igor Sergeenko was born in 1963 in the village of Stolitsa, Sharkovski district, Vitebsk Region. In 1984 he graduated from the Belarusian State University, in 2006 - from the Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus. In 1989-2010 he served in various positions in the bodies of the State Security Committee. In 2010, he was appointed head of the KGB department in Mogilev Region, and in 2013, first deputy chairman of the KGB of Belarus for counterintelligence activities. In 2014-2019, he served as First Deputy Chairman of the KGB. Since December 2019, he has served as head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
