Heads of environmental agencies of Belarus and China sign roadmap for development of cooperation

Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus Andrei Khudyk and Minister of Ecology and Environment of the People's Republic of China Huang Rongqiu have signed a roadmap for the development of cooperation for the period of 2024-2026, BelTA reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.

This document was developed by the Belarusian and Chinese sides to follow up on the agreements reached during the meeting of the heads of nature protection agencies of the two states, held on September 21, 2023 during the visit of a delegation of the Ministry of Natural Resources to China.

The Roadmap envisages a number of specific cooperation activities in such an important area as reducing the negative anthropogenic impact on the environment in order to ensure favorable living conditions for the population, improving the state of the natural environment, as well as mitigating and adapting to climate change in the interests of sustainable environmentally-oriented socio-economic development.

Other areas of joint work include atmospheric air quality management, integrated waste management, biodiversity conservation and restoration, promotion of smart cities and environmentally friendly transportation, capacity building of environmental institutions, and enforcement of environmental legislation.
