Exposition of icons in Nesvizh Palace

The sacred art in stone. An exposition of icons was held in the small exhibition hall of the Palace Ensemble in Nesvizh. It is dedicated to the spiritual shrine of Belarus – The wonder-working Zhirovichi icon of the Mother of God, one of the most famous and revered in the world. Over 70 copies of the icon are made in different stone working techniques using natural marble, onyx, travertine and quartzite. The author of the exhibition is the Belarusian artist Oleg Popelsky. Recently the exhibition has been enriched with one more exhibit, the tactile one. This is the icon of the Mother of God of Kazan, which is also made of different types of noble stones.
