The deputies at the meeting of the first session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation passed the bill "On ratification of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on mutual recognition and exchange of driving licenses," reports BELTA.
The draft law has been prepared in order to express the consent of the Republic of Belarus to be bound by the Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of Belarus and the United Arab Emirates on mutual recognition and exchange of driving licenses, signed on October 2, 2023 in Abu Dhabi.
The memorandum enshrines the obligation of the parties to mutually recognize driving licenses issued in the territory of the other party. Thus, citizens of Belarus - holders of driving licenses of category B, arriving in the United Arab Emirates for purposes other than permanent residence (e.g. tourism or employment under temporary agreements and contracts), can use their driving licenses to drive cars in the UAE.
The Memorandum also provides for the possibility of exchanging a category B driver's license issued by one party for a driver's license issued by the other party without having to pass theoretical and practical qualification examinations for the right to drive a motor vehicle.
