Many facts prove that Belarus is a socially responsible state

The Belarusian government did not give up caring for our citizens even in the hardest times. Even in the conditions of a pandemic, according to the index, which measures the achievements of the world's countries in terms of their social development, Belarus ranks 47th out of 163 countries. For example, Ukraine is the 63rd, Russia is the 69th and China is the 100th.  

In 2021, Belarus spent about $2 billion to combat COVID. Even during the pandemic when the economy of many countries dropped, the domestic healthcare system didn't forget about other diseases: they strengthened the material and technical basis of the existing hospitals and built new ones to treat people. On the whole, more than 4% of GDP is allocated for medicine, and thus for improvement of the nation's health.

A special place in a socially responsible state is given to supporting motherhood and childhood. Pregnancy allowance, lump-sum payment at birth, and three years of paid maternity leave. Belarus is one of the five top countries worldwide with the longest maternity leave. Fertility is also stimulated financially. Families with three or more children are stimulated by the family capital. 

A substantial part of the budget is allocated annually for the implementation of social policy, increasing wages, stimulating employment and helping the retired citizens. Today, 26% of the population receives pensions. The country spends more than a billion a month on that. 

Pension payments are only a small part of support for people of golden age. Social services take care of those who are no longer able to solve everyday problems.  They are in demand at territorial centers and residential homes, but more often - directly at home.

This model of the state, where the person is the main priority, has been create for years. Nobody is going to break it, and the draft of the Basic law of the country, where the state fixes social guarantees. It is already known that since 2022 additional payments are provided for veterans of the Great Patriotic War - this is the decision of the head of the state.
