Automobile collapse at border: Latvia, following Poland, imposes ban on exporting cars to Belarus

31 марта 2024

How European cars faced problems at the border? Latvia, following Poland, has introduced a ban on exporting cars to Belarus. The restrictions affected cars with an engine capacity of more than 1.9 liters or costing more than €50 thousand. This is regarded as prohibited imports - they say that all the cars exported to Belarus can get to the Russian car market, while it is under sanctions.

And since the restrictions are imposed at checkpoints bordering our country, it's the Belarusians who have faced the problem of importing cars. This does not apply to personal cars, and vehicles from the U.S. pass the border properly, but cars with transit numbers in Europe are simply turned around at the border. No one knows what to do next. Vladimir Korolev has news from the border.

Clarification of what to do for those who are stuck with cars on the other side of the border, they promise to give on April 1. But it is already obvious that huge losses are waiting for transporters and representatives of the car business. Minimal - accommodation in Poland until April, maximum - tens of thousands of dollars from each car because of the increase in tariffs! Ironically, on April 1, the recycling fee for cars imported from EAEU countries increases in Russia.
