Ambrazevich: Accusations of violation of "paper" human rights become tool of pressure by the West

Accusations of violation of paper standards in the field of human rights have become a tool of pressure by the West. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Yuri Ambrazevich at the session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, reports BelTA.

"Did human rights help the world to become less conflictual and more harmonious? Unfortunately, contrary to the original idea, the jubilee year of 2023 for the Universal Declaration (of Human Rights - ed.) witnessed a record number of regional armed conflicts in the world over the past 30 years. This deplorable result hides a significant negative role of the concept of human rights. After all, accusations of violating utopian paper standards in the sphere of human rights have long become tools of pressure and discrediting opponents in the arsenal of Western countries," Yuri Ambrazevich noted.

According to him, thanks to their dominance in the international economy and international information space, the U.S. and EU countries use human rights as a pretext to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign and independent states, to impose economic and other restrictions against unwanted countries.

"It is obvious that such actions of the West directly violate the rights of ordinary people in the "punished" countries. The perniciousness of such policies for the general climate of international relations is aggravated by the factor of double standards that the West applies to the subject of human rights.
