Moscow to host Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting today

The meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov. This will be the first ministerial meeting in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, which launched in January with Belarus becoming its first chair. During the meeting, the heads of government of Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan and Armenia will consider Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union.

Yesterday, during a working visit to Russia, the Prime Minister of Belarus met with his counterpart. Dmitry Medvedev supported Belarus’ initiative on establishing a bilateral economic cooperation plan. The parties agreed on the intention to hold a meeting of the Union State Council of Ministers in the first half of the year in Russia.
