In the five months since his appointment, the Belarusian ambassador to Russia has already paid more than a dozen visits to Russian regions. This time, Leningrad Region is on the itinerary. The composition of the Belarusian delegation is impressive: the governor of the Minsk Region, representatives of enterprises, business, science and education.
The Leningrad Region has always been a top region for Belarus in terms of trade turnover, it has consistently ranked fifth or seventh. But over the past two years the figures have changed considerably. If in 2020 the trade turnover was $500 million, now we can increase it to one billion. Strange as it may seem, it is the sanctions that have helped this growth. In order not to be dependent on foreign partners, Belarus has been investing in the development of domestic production for more than 10 years. And today, when many Western and European companies have left the Russian market, it is the Belarusians who take their place.
