Alexander Lukashenko and Xi Jinping to hold talks in Beijing in narrow and extended format

28 февраля 2023

The course on further building of friendship and cooperation. Alexander Lukashenko went on a state visit to the People's Republic of China. Forge No. 1 took off from Minsk National Airport this morning.

The Heads of State will hold both narrow and extended talks in Beijing. The agenda includes the development of cooperation in various areas, the implementation of joint projects, and interaction in the political sphere. This will be the 13th meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and Xi Jinping.

The leaders have met seven times during the visits of our President to the PRC. Following the last one in Samarkand last year, the bilateral relations between Minsk and Beijing reached a new level of all-weather and all-round strategic partnership, which is the highest level of trust that few people in the world have received from China. Belarus and China have been on the way to strengthening cooperation for a long time.

And for the last decade, our countries have linked big projects, they are real engines of the economy. The Great Stone is the place where high-tech products are produced. Interest in the site did not decrease even during the pandemic. The Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation has great prospects, there are only a few of them in the world. Mutual trade is also on the rise: China is traditionally in the top three trade partners of Belarus.

Yuri Senko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China:

The Republic of Belarus has moved from 136th to 38th position in terms of the growth rate of exports of Belarusian products to China. This is a good indicator, which shows that both China is interested in our products and the Republic of Belarus has worked out the appropriate mechanisms, accreditation of our products for the Chinese market. The Chinese know Belarusian products well and are happy to buy them. The Republic of Belarus itself is associated with Chinese buyers as a quality product, as goods that are environmentally friendly.

More than two dozen documents are expected to be signed as part of the visit. It is expected that they will serve as an impetus for further development of cooperation between Minsk and Beijing in various areas from trade and investment to culture and sports.
