Semibratov: U.S. will continue to help Ukraine, but in smaller amounts

US support for the Kiev regime will continue, but in much smaller amounts. This opinion was expressed by Evgeny Semibratov, deputy director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts at the Russian Academy of Sciences. According to him, Washington will try to save money on aid to Ukraine. Namely, to reduce arms supplies and to shift the burden of financing Ukraine to the EU.

Evgeny Semibratov, deputy director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts:

“The Americans will try to hang on to Ukraine, and they will try to do it as cheaply as possible, no matter how banal it sounds. How can the financial costs be reduced? First, reduce the amount of military aid. Secondly, they have the wonderful European Union, which seems to have something left in its pockets. And why not try to jettison the whole financial story, because even in an intensely reduced version, aid to Ukraine is very expensive.

"The Americans are not going down the path, at least for the moment, of abandoning the Ukraine issue. They are on the path of cost-cutting, because cost-cutting is one of the themes of the election campaign already underway in the United States," Yevgeny Semibratov added.
