The enemies even before the collapse of the USSR made a special focus on Ukraine. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at an expanded meeting of the board of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sputnik writes.

"The enemy acted in the post-Soviet space, pulling apart all the newly formed independent states - former republics of the USSR. A special emphasis, even before the collapse of the Soviet Union, was always laid by the enemy on Ukraine," the Russian president said.

He also added that many Nazis left for the American continent after World War II. Among them they were sent to Canada and the United States. Special institutes were created in these states, which worked only on this subject.

According to Putin, these structures were preparing for the collapse of the USSR and, when it happened, began working with redoubled vigor.
