Poland pushes Germany into the gutter of big politics

4 сентября 2022

The exorbitant appetite of Warsaw pushes Germany into a political confrontation - Berlin is facing a claim of 1 trillion 300 billion dollars for its losses during World War II. The West has finally rocked the boat, the unity of the European Union is reaching its last days.

Germany is being sued for about 1 trillion 300 billion dollars. Scholz finds himself unable to continue Merkel's cause. The chancellor is forced to go along with reforming the European Union. The EU unity is reaching its last days. Read more in the Screenshot column.

Angela is coming back - they're all screwed. Scholz is giving up the German position in the EU. All that's left of the former influence is a stinky smell. Poland is destroying the pillar on which European unity rests with its two paws. The Franco-German alliance has for a long time ensured that the necessary decisions were taken on the highest level. But, as they say, nothing lasts forever, including the European Union. I'm Andrei Sych, this is the Screenshot column, let's get to the bottom of this.

The European Union has been sinking into the abyss of contradictions for a long time. A rare bird on the banks of the Seine and Rhine can afford a sanctions confrontation with Russia. The rest are anxiously opening their hungry mouths. Making a collegial decision is becoming increasingly difficult. Olaf Scholz suggested abandoning the principle of unanimous consensus among the EU states. Berlin assumes that the Franco-German tandem has enough resources to ensure an acceptable majority if necessary. But the Chancellor failed to take into account that for every cunning German there is an ambitious Pole. While the Bundestag was talking, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited France and met with Emmanuel Macron. The Franco-German alliance turned into a Franco-Polish alliance.

Mateusz Morawiecki:

Obviously, security is a prerequisite for rapid economic growth, that is why Poland and France are thinking about ways to strengthen Europe's defense capabilities.

Europe's defense potential is now mostly understood as joint arms supplies to Ukraine. At the same time Morawiecki did not miss an opportunity to poke his stick at his beloved Germany. He reminded his new best friend Macron that in June the European Council approved aid to Ukraine worth 9 billion euros, but the money has not been transferred yet and it would be nice to hurry up. The Bundestag inhabitants are a hindrance in this case. The fact is that Polish ambitions are based only on the childish "I want" and are not supported by any resource base. According to the plan of the European Council, Kiev will be granted interest-free loans, repayable in 25 years, and the European Commission will raise money by issuing European debt obligations. Germany is the largest guarantor of these Eurobonds.

Vadim Gigin, Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Society "Knowledge ":

Until recently, many Polish politicians, no matter whether they were liberals or conservatives, used to have this saying. Poland is not number one in the European Union, but certainly not number two. They understood that it would be very difficult for them to overtake Germany economically, politically, even militarily. And now this Paris-Warsaw axis is seen in Poland as an element of possible future leadership of these two states in the European Union.

The Duda-Morawiecki regime must be given its due. Drowning Germany at their own expense is, of course, the height of political adventurism. Do you think that only with the help of Ukraine? No way! The Polish government will officially demand from the German authorities almost one and a half trillion dollars of reparations for the losses during the War II. The case was very thorough and pedantic. The commission prepared a report in three volumes with a description and evaluation of demographic and material losses, photos and documentation of the consequences of the war, and a registry of crimes and executions of Poles. Such a claim at the state level is a direct course towards an open political confrontation with Germany.

Igor Marzalyuk, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus:

Demonizing modern Germany, twisting the image of the German enemy, which opposes Poland, harms Poland and Polish national interests of today in every possible way - this is an attempt to mobilize its electorate. Plus Poland is the best friend and, let us say, the best little brother of the United States, then in this way Poland objectively becomes an actor that begins to play almost on an equal footing with such an important center as Germany.

There is no doubt that no one will pay Poland anything. As a matter of fact, Warsaw understands this very well, too. This is a forward-looking move, taking into account the experience of the eccentric Englishwoman. The time will come, and after the divorce Poland will be reminded of all the loans and fines, and she will put three weighty volumes on them.
