Apparently fearing a setback on the Ukrainian front, NATO is preparing for possible hostilities on its borders, writes The New York Times. According to the newspaper, this will lead to the deployment of more troops on the border with Russia, a deeper integration of U.S. and allied military plans, increased military spending and more detailed requirements for allies in terms of the composition of the armed forces. That said, NATO officials acknowledge that they do not yet have enough forces suitable for deployment on the border with Russia. Therefore, the generals have yet to figure out where it would be more profitable to deploy the troops already available.

The United States is probing the ground and is moving combat equipment across Estonia to conduct exercises with the new NATO member Finland. This was announced by the United States embassy in Tallinn. The contingent includes Abrams tanks and Bradley combat vehicles, which are now in Lithuania. According to the battalion commander, the rapid redeployment of combat equipment demonstrates the U.S. government's commitment to protecting NATO allies. But the question here is a different one - will the equipment and personnel return to their original location after the exercise?
