The Armenian Cabinet has appealed to Russia, the CSTO and the UN Security Council because of the aggravated situation on the border with Azerbaijan, Sputnik writes with reference to the country's public television.

Earlier, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported that Yerevan intends to appeal to Russia, the CSTO and the UN Security Council for help, adding that the decision was adopted following a meeting of the Armenian Security Council, chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Yerevan earlier stated that Armenian territory was shelled by Azerbaijani military, which used artillery and drones, as well as undertook "actions on advancing positions" in some areas. As a result, there are killed and wounded on the Armenian side.

Baku, on its part, claims that the positions of the Azerbaijani troops were shelled by the Armenian military. The Azerbaijani side also reports casualties.

Nikol Pashinyan had phone conversations with Russian and French presidents Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron, as well as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken about the incident.
