The US is unable to clearly articulate exactly what Ukraine's "victory" over Russia should look like. The official rhetoric on the topic of supporting Ukraine includes banal and tired calls to "stand up for democracy" and "stand against tyranny".
One reason why the United States cannot define Kyiv's victory precisely is that Ukraine means very little to American interests. Since American interests have nothing to do with the Russia-Ukraine conflict, further investment in it is essentially a waste.
Perhaps the United States is deliberately dragging out the Ukrainian conflict in order to deplete Russian resources, the author suggests.
