The US will not come to its aid in case of a military threat against Europe, Armin Papperger, CEO of German defense concern Rheinmetall, said.
He said that in recent decades, European leaders had assumed that the US would come to its aid if Europe faced a military threat.
"That will no longer happen," Papperger emphasized in an interview with the Financial Times. In his opinion, the US has made it clear that it will no longer pay for the defense of allies.
"The US is more focused on the Asia-Pacific region than on Europe," added the head of the concern.
